Budget and Actuals
Suppose: There's an actual number that you want to compare against a budget number that varies based on some dimensionality (e.g. by product).
The best way to do this is to create a calculated member in your cube that is a variance between the two numbers. You can create both an absolute variance (budget minus actual) and/or a percentage variance (the difference between budget and actual as a percentage) depending on what you want to measure.
You can then use the "Stated Score" feature to band a target any way you'd like.
Example: Show a column of actuals with status indicators scored based on their variation from their budget numbers along a dimension in a cube.
Create a Target called "Actuals", configure the scorecard view to show "Actual values" and in your Banding Settings under "Thresholds" use the "Stated Score" feature to band by the variance from your cube, either by percentage or absolute numbers.
